Kalexedy Learning Center adheres to the Inclement Weather Policy of the town in which we are located. As this is New England, we are apt to have a number of school days when the weather is inclement. Please know that schools are likely to be open if roads are open and passable. If a parent believes that weather conditions are too severe, he/she may keep his/her children home.

One of the following plans will be in effect for inclement weather:

1. If conditions are, in the local Superintendent’s judgment, sufficiently severe for student travel, schools will be canceled. The “No School” announcement will be carried by local television news channels. No after-school clubs will be held when school is canceled for inclement weather. The final day in June for Kalexedy Learning Center is not changed or extended.

2. If conditions are almost safe, but the Highway Department needs extra time to clear the roads, the school day may be shortened. Under this alternative plan, the opening of the center will typically be delayed by one or two hours. The “Delayed Opening” announcement will be announced the same way as cancellations. Students being driven to school should follow the delay timing. On such days, schools will be dismissed at their regular times. As our lunch time is flexible, no one will be prohibited from taking time to eat based on a delay to the start time.

3. On rare occasions, the Superintendent may implement an early dismissal. This will be done in as timely a manner as possible. Notification will generally be communicated through local news/radio stations.

d. In the event of a Kalexedy Learning Center specific event that necessitates closure of the facility. Parents and emergency contacts will be notified by all means available. Please do not leave children at the center unattended.

School cancellations and delays for exceedingly hot days or public school specific issues do NOT apply to Kalexedy Learning Center. We have active heating and cooling systems that enable us to maintain safe temperatures for learning. Outdoor time may be limited when staff deems the weather to be inhospitable
